FIABA Day 2025
On Tuesday, November 11, Adria Ferries took part in the 23rd edition of National Day for the Elimination of Architectural Barriers, hosting a group of people with disabilities and their carers on board the AF Mia ship, in collaboration with the Port Authority of Ancona, FIABA ETS and the Italian Red Cross– Ancona Committee. FIABA Day, created to promote a culture of accessibility that goes beyond structural aspects, enhancing the right of every person to fully enjoy urban, port and travel spaces, is now a well-established tradition for Adria Ferries: after hosting the initiative in 2022 on the AF Marina and in 2023 on the AF Claudia, the 2025 edition, as in 2024, took place on board the AF Mia, confirming a constant commitment that translates into dedicated services, barrier-free routes and active participation in the awareness days promoted by FIABA ETS.
The morning began with a welcome at the port, followed by a guided tour aboard the AF Mia. Participants were able to explore the public areas, observe the spaces dedicated to passengers with reduced mobility and learn about the ship's operations thanks to explanations provided by the crew.
The tour of the ship was followed by a trip out to sea aboard the tugboat Elisabetta, owned by SERS (Società Esercizio Rimorchi e Salvataggi), a long-standing partner of the initiative.
It was an evocative experience that allowed participants to observe the port from a new perspective, experiencing a day in the life of nautical activities.
The day was coordinated by Domenico Ronchi, FIABA regional representative, together with the Harbour Master's Office, which, as every year, played a central role in the organisation.
The initiative reiterated the importance of teamwork between institutions, associations and maritime operators to remove the physical and cultural barriers that still limit access to public spaces and transport services.
For Adria Ferries, participating in FIABA Day means continuing a journey based on values of social responsibility, hospitality and attention to all those who choose to travel with the company. This commitment translates into well-equipped ships, dedicated assistance and constant collaboration with local organisations to promote truly inclusive mobility.
